MLK Would Be Proud of My Cat

Moonlight(the fat, non-fluffy kitty) staged a non-violent protest today. I was putting a harness on her (part of an attempt at training her to walk on a leash.) and she was surprisingly docile. Too docile in fact. After I put the harness on her she refused to move(she turned her head and ate a kitty treat out of my hand so I was sure she was awake and alive). She just lay there, not chasing the laser dot, or moving to get a kitty treat just inches away. After a quarter of an hour of this lie-in I decided that enough was enough and took the harness off. Moonlight got up, ate the kitty treat, and chased the laser dot.

Official statement on SOPA/PIPA

I know I've posted stuff about this before but I feel like making an official statement just in case I haven't been clear enough already.

SOPA/PIPA are the stupidest bills ever introduced to congress.

Everyone who endorses SOPA/PIPA should go into rehab for their obvious addiction to Blackberrys.

Everyone who hasn't heard of either of these bills is living under a rock.

I promise to post about something other than SOPA/PIPA ASAP

SOPA

I've censored the following, in protest of a bill that gives any corporation and the US government the power to censor the internet--a bill that could pass THIS WEEK. To see the uncensored text, and to stop internet censorship, visit: http://americancensorship.org/posts/33193/uncensor
I █████'t ██████ in ██████ ███████ of █████████ for the ██████ ████, ████████, and ████ ████████. ████ is a █████ ████ to ███████ ████ (████ ██████ ██████ act) █████ is █████████ ██████ ███████ the ██████. ████ █████ ████ the ██████████ the ███████ to █████ any ███████ ████ has █████ to ███████ ████████, ████ █████ ████ to █████████, ███████, █████, ██████ █████, etc ███████ ███████ so ████ ████ can't be ████████ in ██████ ███████, or the url █████ in but ████ can be ████████ by IP ███████(██████ for you and me but the ████████ ███████ ████ ██████ get ███████). ████████████ ████ █████ ███████ ███████ ████ DNS ██████ ███████ (the ████████'s ████). ████ act █████ set █████████ in █████ █████████ ███████ to a ███████-████ ████████. So ████ is ██████ ████ the █████ ████ ████.
You only need to put in the zip code and email. If you aren't allowed to do this for some reason just comment here and I will give you the uncensored version asap.

Taking It Slow

So, I have 27 days of the free trial left and I'm kinda stuck with writers block. Taking inspiration from http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/peptalks/audreyniffenegger (thanks Scott), I'm not going to try to force myself to write more than I want to. I am going to take a break from my little nanowrimo and just read, get inspired, read books about writing, hang out with the cats, write a little in some of my novel ideas, and write a few short stories. I'm doing this for a few main reasons:
  • Slow and steady wins the race
  • I'm a bit of a slacker
  • I need to do homework
  • I hate doing anything under pressure
  • I don't want to be told to write everytime I try to chat with someone (you know who you are)
  • I wanna be lazy
  • My inner editor currently has my inner muse tied up
  • I don't want to judge myself by numbers (word counts)
  • If I put the time into writing a novel it has to be good therefore, I won't write a full novel until I am good at writing.
  • I will write faster once I learn to touch type (I can type just pretty slowly)
  • I need to improve my grammar
  • According to http://whatever.scalzi.com/2006/04/27/10-things-teenage-writers-should-know-about-writing/ blogs count in writing everyday so I will just pester you in order to gain writing experience
And now for something completely(well kinda) different:

Here is a list of great things about trying to write a novel:
  • Now I have a good excuse about slacking off on the internet "I'm doing research to help me write the next great American novel"
  • I have an excuse for reading in class "I'm investigating the styles of different writers to help me write the next great American novel"
  • Continuing on that same theme you have an excuse for just about anything for example:
Mr. Hutson "Why did you cut class?"
Me "It's to add realism to my novel."

911 "Why did you jump off a cliff?"
Me "It's to add realism to my novel."

Police/Parents/Press "Why did you run away from home?"
Me "It's to add realism to my novel."

Judge "Why did you shoot the president?"
Me "It's to add realism to my novel."

CIA "Why did you enclose all of Washington DC in a bubble?"
Me "It's to add realism to my novel."

Press "Why did you build a dystopia inside the earth's crust?"
Me "It's to add realism to my novel."

List of complaints:
  • I can't make a video of my cats on the catwalkway cause I can't charge my camera battery
  • I haven't finished my homework cause I'm slaking off
  • My parents  won't let me walk my cats
  • I'm straying waaaaaaay off topic

Comment Question: Do you prefer long posts like this one or shorter posts like my first few?

Please Don't Call Me a Quitter

Tonight I wrote about 800 words in an hour, I only have an hour a day to devote to writing, so I am reducing my requirement to 20,000 words (still an accomplishment) in a novel or a novella. I am going to write as much as time will allow so if I'm not very busy I might still write 50,000 words.

My Own Little NaNoWriMo

So I found this site (thanks tooks). It happens to mention that the author uses Scrivener to write, it seems really interesting. I don't feel like spending the money and I like NaNoWriMo, but I happened to get interisted in novel writing right after it ended. Because Scrivener has a 30 day free trial (one day shorter than NaNoWriMo) I am going to challenge myself to write 50,000 words in Scrivener during the 30 day free trial. This will start on Jan 1st, and I will post daily word counts.
